Yadanar Win during "Ilsede welcomes the world"

Yadanar Win during "Die Welt zu Gst in Ilsede" (Ilsede welcomes the world)

In the performance by artist @yadanarjewel from Myanmar, she addresses the pain and suffering of people fighting against the government. She aims to bring this experience as close as possible to the audience by loudly reciting a poem and bursting balloons filled with red paint over herself.

The voice of the citizens must be heard. If not in their own country, then here. Balloons burst. Blood splatters on her beautiful white dress. Just a few seconds ago, it was so pristine and calm. Suddenly, it becomes louder and more uncontrollable. The once silent place is now abruptly resonating at full volume. Everything is so quiet yet simultaneously so loud. Everyone is watching, wanting to understand. It doesn't work. The performance is already over, but thoughts are still not in their place.

Yadanar pricks the balloons with a needle.

Loud pops with every balloon that bursts.
