CURATOR

Ilka Theurich – Curator, Performance Artist & Lecturer
Ilka Theurich is a contemporary performance artist, curator, and lecturer whose work bridges the gap between artistic creation, education, and community building. With a deep commitment to the evolution of Live Art, she has established herself as a vital voice in the international performance art scene.
As the founder and curator of The Studio: Ilka Theurich – project space in Hannover, Germany, she creates fluid, borderless environments where international and local artists can experiment and connect. Her curatorial practice is deeply collaborative, rooted in the idea of the studio as a living laboratory rather than a static exhibition space.
Complementing her artistic and curatorial work, Ilka is a dedicated lecturer. She shares her extensive knowledge of visual performance, body archive, and spatial awareness with the next generation of artists, fostering an environment of critical thinking and creative freedom. Whether through her own raw, material-focused performances or her pedagogical projects, Ilka continuously challenges the boundaries between art, space, and audience.
